CRFA appoints Dwayne Marling as VP Manitoba-Saskatchewan

WINNIPEG -- Garth Whyte, President and CEO of the Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association (CRFA), is pleased to announce the appointment of Dwayne Marling as Vice President, Manitoba Saskatchewan, effective April 4, 2011.

Dwayne brings nearly 20 years of management-level experience in public affairs and corporate communications, in both the public and private sectors, to this position.  He began his career as a legislative assistant to a Manitoba Member of Parliament, and has extensive experience managing public affairs, government and media relations, and corporate affairs for a variety of provincial associations, private companies and national agencies.  In addition, he has municipal experience as a communications consultant to the City of Winnipeg. Dwayne was born in Saskatchewan and has lived in Manitoba most of his life. 

“In addition to his strategic and versatile communication skills, Dwayne brings a strong sense of community to this position,” says Whyte. “I’m confident that he will build on CRFA’s efforts in this important region as he works with foodservice operators, politicians and other stakeholders to create an environment that allows our members to grow and prosper.”

Dwayne holds a BA in Political Studies from the University of Manitoba, as well as certificates in Communications (Public Relations) and Management Development.

Manitoba’s $1.7 billion restaurant industry employs 39,000 people in communities across the province.  Saskatchewan’s $1.8 billion restaurant industry employs 32,000 people. The industry provides a variety of job opportunities, including first job experience for 22 per cent of Canadians.

CRFA is one of Canada’s largest business associations, with more than 30,000 members representing restaurants, bars, caterers, institutions and other foodservice providers. Canada’s foodservice industry employs more than one million people in communities across the country.
