(Dec. 15/10) British Columbia’s Ministry of Labour is setting up meetings with groups representing employers and employees to review employment standards – including minimum wage – over the next few months. The meetings will gather stakeholder input on modernizing the province’s employment standards system around these themes:
The Employment Standards Act and regulation set minimum standards of wages and working conditions in most B.C. workplaces. The legislation covers hours of work, overtime, minimum wage, payment of wages and statutory holidays.
CRFA will participate in the review. Please share your ideas for changes to British Columbia’s employment standards and minimum wage policies with CRFA’s Western Canada Vice President Mark von Schellwitz. Contact Mark at 604-685-9655 (toll-free at 1-866-300-7675) or mark@crfa.ca.
