CRFA argues PEI minimum wage rising too high, too fast
(Nov. 26/10) CRFA has told the PEI Minimum Wage Board – which is holding its annual consultations – that in recent years, the minimum wage has risen too far, too fast. PEI’s minimum wage has increased much faster than other economic indicators putting operators in a precarious position, particularly in these slow economic times.
CRFA is urging government to:
- put more money into the hands of the working poor by increasing the basic personal income tax exemption; and
- help mitigate the negative impacts on the foodservice industry by introducing a tip and training wage differential.
