Non-compliant foreign worker employers face severe penalties

(Jul. 18/11) CRFA is reminding restaurateurs of the severe penalties they face for not complying with requirements under the Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) Program.

The Government of Canada is conducting ongoing audits to determine whether employers have reasonably respected the terms of job offers and Labour Market Opinions (LMOs) for temporary foreign workers. Particular attention is paid to wages and overtime, working conditions and occupation.

Employers found non-compliant may:

be refused work permit applications for any foreign national they offer a job;
be deemed ineligible to hire a temporary foreign worker for two years; and
have their names displayed on Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s (CIC’s) Temporary Foreign Worker Program’s Ineligible Employers website.
