CRFA continues to fight controversial BAC legislation

(Feb. 14/12) Using the momentum from our successful member engagement campaign, CRFA is continuing to lobby the Alberta government on its 0.05 blood alcohol content (BAC) legislation. We are:

Focus on communication
CRFA created a Member Advisory Committee to advise government on its Bill 26 implementation plans – including related education and communications initiatives. At our first meeting with government officials on Feb. 2, CRFA argued the responsible drinking “Know Your Limit” messaging replace “Don’t Drink & Drive” messaging. We also recommended focusing more communications resources on the part of the legislation that deals with repeat offenders over 0.08 BAC, instead of 0.05 BAC provisions.

CRFA will also join Alberta’s Provincial Impaired Driving Advisory Committee to ensure the hospitality industry’s voice is heard in ongoing messaging and future impaired driving initiatives.
