Is Saskatchewan next? Tougher BAC penalties on the table

(Jan. 13/11) On Dec. 21, CRFA met with Saskatchewan’s Minster of Justice Don Morgan to discuss the province’s intentions on administrative penalties for drivers with blood alcohol content (BAC) levels between 0.04 and 0.08.

The meeting made it clear that Saskatchewan is looking to follow B.C. and Alberta in toughening its BAC administrative penalties. Draft legislation is expected this fall, with implementation in late spring or early summer of 2013.

What you can do
CRFA shares the government’s goal of getting drunk drivers off Saskatchewan’s roads –however, we do not support legislation that will create confusion and target the wrong people. CRFA will make it clear to government that Saskatchewan restaurateurs do not want to be hurt like their counterparts in Western Canada by this type of legislation. Help us get our message across by participating in CRFA’s upcoming petition campaigns and related activities.
