As Alberta prepares to go to the polls on April 23, the Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association has a clear message for election candidates: Alberta’s $9-billion, 130,000-employee restaurant industry is too important to ignore!
Foodservice operators and our employees are an integral part of Alberta’s fabric, both economically and socially. In financial terms, our industry is made up of more than 9,000 small business operators. For every dollar spent in a restaurant, an additional $1.85 is spent in the rest of the economy. With 130,000 employees, we are the fifth-largest, private-sector employer in the province.
There is no better time to approach a politician about issues impacting your business than when they are seeking election. Our industry is uniquely positioned to get a message to the provincial parties during this election – candidates are visiting restaurants daily while on the campaign trail.
You can help make restaurants matter in this election by using the resources in your Election Toolkit (available on the left):
Provincial candidates need to hear about the importance of the restaurant industry to their community – and what is needed in the way of public policy to instil business confidence. We want to work together to ensure the industry can invest, create jobs and contribute to the province’s prosperity into the future.
Together we can make a difference!
Sincerely,
Mark von Schellwitz
